Project CIVIC Resilience Hub Initiative

Welcome to the Resilience, Education, and Advocacy Centers for Hazard Preparedness (REACH) initiative. This project is a collaborative effort aimed at building resilience hubs that serve both daily community needs (blue sky days) and critical disaster response (gray sky days). These hubs are designed to enhance community resilience by offering services like energy access, connectivity, and education, while prioritizing the needs of socially vulnerable populations. By working closely with local stakeholders, we ensure that each resilience hub is tailored to meet the community's unique needs, fostering long-term sustainability and preparedness for disasters. Explore the blue and gray sky modes to learn how the hub operates in different scenarios and how it can serve your community in everyday and emergencies.

Select Sky Mode

Blue-Sky Mode: This mode represents normal operations, where the resilience hub provides everyday services like community education, access to energy, the internet, and device charging. It symbolizes preparedness and community engagement in non-emergency times, offering resources that contribute to long-term resilience.

Grey-Sky Mode: This mode activates during emergencies such as hurricanes, floods, or other disasters. The hub serves as a critical resource, providing shelter, emergency communication, cooling stations, and other essential services needed to support the community in times of crisis. The hub is equipped to respond to rapidly changing conditions and help the most vulnerable populations.
